How did I connect with others who serve this cause or population?

NEtWorking

I have met many full-time employees and other volunteers during my 40 hours volunteering at Hope Helps food pantry. We all usually interact with each other when the food pantry is slow. I made a connection with the volunteer coordinator who handles volunteer events and scheduling, the secretary, the food pantry coordinator, the marketing manager, and many other regular volunteers. I will be able to continue this connection at the end of the semester because I have added many of these to my LinkedIn account, and I will be staying in touch with them by regularly following up. I have also been volunteering at this food pantry for 5 years now, so I have been able to also personally stay in touch with many of the people who volunteer here regularly.

I had the opportunity to meet a retired professionalĀ  who was in the industry I want to break into who is a regluar volunteer at theĀ  food pantry. I have had many conversations with him, and he gave me lots of advice on how to break into the industry. He also introduced me to the current professionals in the industry and referred me to them for possible internship opportunities. The volunteer coordinator also has many connections with professionals in the tech industry, and I gave her my resume to refer me to many internships to increase my opportunities to land a software engineering internship role for this upcoming summer. In conclusion, I have built long-lasting relationships in this food pantry and plan to stay in touch.
