My Career Ready Portfolio

Where I am headed? My Career Compass Reflection

This assessment really helped me analyze about myself and how my personality, traits, and morals align with different career paths that I can take. Right now I’m in the process of obtaining my double major in finance and marketing in hopes that I could be part of a business that does good for the world or maybe try to start a business and find something that I can do to make the world a better place. The assessment broadened my horizons in the different paths I can take instead of just being narrowminded on the business route.

Only 6 occupations appeared in four of the assessments I took and for some reason no occupations managed to be in all five of the assessments. The ones that managed to make it into majority of the tests are childcare center administrator, equal opportunity representative, parole officer, preschool administrator, probation officer, and residential advisors. What I thought was weird was that none of them had to do with the majors I have picked out. None of the jobs are bad, it’s just ones that I didn’t expect to receive for example like equal opportunity representative, parole officer, or residential advisor. They are cool jobs, but I’m not interested in working with the law, so it didn’t make since to me but when deep dived into my results and it made since. Some of the ones I agreed with are both related to childcare which I have always enjoyed. The one I least expected was for to be a parole officer but when I did some research on it, the job made sense for me because it its helping people after they’ve left court or prison and helping them push themselves to overcome who they were when they did what they did.

The leisure topic was a good addition to the exam because we mainly forget that we can have a life outside our jobs and that it’s important to give yourself time to still grow in other aspects and give yourself the range to keep growing. The top three leisure’s that I got from my test were Sharing, Eager, and Correct which I think ended up making the most since for what I look for in my leisure time. I like being able to make sure that I make the world a better place but to make sure that I do it correctly so that it will work down the line and there’s no hiccups down the line.

I really enjoyed taking this assessment because I was able to see what works with my ideology and personality and it has broadened my thoughts to what I can do other than what I’m studying now. Its nerve wrecking that none of the top results are what I want to be but maybe this showed me there are other things I can work on and do as well. I can talk to my advising office about it and see what they recommend for me on what to do. Everyone in college should take this assessment because it really does help you navigate what you want to do.
