The organization I chose is Make-A-Wish. As a member of Chi Omega, I contribute to Make-A-Wish every year. I wanted to take a step further and voluntee more of my time in this organization.
- What new skills or abilities will you gain in this volunteer role? How will you contribute to the mission of the organization?
I will definitely learn how to communicate and persuade people in this role. I am volunteering as a development intern so I will be helping organize the fundraising events, and reaching out to restaurants and businesses to see if they will donate.
- What personal or professional connection do you share with this organization?
My mom is a teacher, and I was raised to always care about kids and be an advocate for them. I can be an advocate for kids with terminal illnesses by volunteering for MAW.
- How does volunteering with this nonprofit feed a passion of yours?
I have such a passion for childeren and working with people for a greater cause. Spending many hours volunteering my time for this organzation will help benefit the kids that need it the most.
- What might be the greatest barrier you would face in serving with this organization? How will you overcome this barrier?
My greatest barrier may be not thinking I am good enough to fulfill the position as an intern. It is my first internship and I am a little nervous and hope it goes well. I will overcome this barrier by cultivating confidence, and showing up every day and doing my best.
