My Career Ready Portfolio

Focus Career 2 Reflective Essay

The Focus Career Assessment has prepared a list of occupations that best fit me, including “Acute Care Nurse”, “Agricultural Sciences Professor”, “Criminal Lawyer”, and “Real Estate Lawyer”. After seeing this report, I was astonished by my results. As an accounting major, I don’t have to take a science class nor do I have any desire in chemistry or biology. Therefore, I would have never predicted to see roles in healthcare and agricultural sciences listed as my best occupational fit. However, I found it fascinating that it suggested I become a criminal lawyer or a real estate lawyer. I could envision myself in law school.                                                                                According to my Work Interest Assessment, my Holland Code is Enterprising, Conventional, and Investigative (ECI). This means I have characteristics of             “Persuaders”, “Organizers”, and “Thinkers.” I am talkative and energetic showcasing the traits of a Persuader. Similarly, according to my True Colors Assessment, I am an “Orange,” which means I am optimistic, upbeat, and spontaneous. I also exhibit strong organizational skills and like to complete tasks in an efficient manner, similar to Organizers. Additionally, I am a curious person who likes to use their problem-solving skills, akin to Thinkers.                                                                                                          My Leisure Interest preferences include Sharing, Inquiring, and Reality. These     interests could enable me to advise my future colleagues, power my curiosity, and help me engage in hands-on activities. These interests help me incorporate a career goal of growing in a workplace, where I can contribute and learn from experiences. I consider the Values Assessment most relevant to me. Values play an important role in shaping yours and your company’s. culture. A company’s culture is a reflection of the workplace, enclosing the company’s values, goals, and mission.                                    The Personality Assessment is also very important to me, because I want to work with others who are Caring, Reliable, Systematic, Harmonious, and Positive. I completely agree with this assessment, as I resonate with these five personality types the most. I want to work with others who are reliable, dependable, optimistic,    tranquil during stressful periods, efficient, and people who prioritize the company’s goals.                                                                                                                                                 These assessments have made me aware of valuable insights into what I am searching for in a company. Along with this awareness, I hope to harness these skills and traits to prosper in my accounting career.
