My Career Ready Portfolio

My leadership vision board is representative of my aspirations for the future, career and professional development wise. I used a mixture of images and personality test indicators to describe my goals and leadership styles, as they not only define me, but help me organize and plan for my future. I first took the Myers Briggs type indicator test when I was 15 years old. Since then, I have taken it 3 more times and have received ENFJ (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging) every time I’ve taken it. This personality type is nicknamed “Protagonist” or “Mentor,” and is frequently associated with leaders and ambitions, charismatic personalities. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have always aimed to be a passionate leader who focuses on the community and people first. My MBTI personality type accurately reflects this, and when I enter a new position, I frequently use the ENFJ definition to guide me.

Directly under that, I included a picture of a woman performing surgery, as I want to pursue a career in medicine, specifically as a physician. Although I am still unsure of which route I would like to specialize in, I am excited to have the opportunity to perform surgery and explore the various procedures in the vast field of medicine. I absolutely love to learn new things, and I also love the fiber arts, including sewing. During previous suture workshops and shadowing a surgeon, I was deeply excited and fascinated by the intricacy and precision of surgery and look forward to experiencing it firsthand.

Throughout my experience in college, I have taken the true colors quiz 4 times, and received basically the same answer each time. I always have green as my top answer, however, I have also tied with blue and with orange once. I think the inquisitive and critical thinking aspects of the green personality define my academic personality quite well, whereas the blue and orange describe my at home or more social personality. The image directly next to my true color is aimed to demonstrate my love for community and how this is a motivating feature in every aspect in my life. When I am leading, I like to focus on the community building; when I have free time, I like to spend time with people I love, who encourage and motivate me and vice versa.

The three images in the middle are aimed to describe both my professional aspirations, my academic style, and my leadership techniques. In leadership and in academics, I always try to put in my full effort, meaning that I am willing to stay up late and pick up slack or study until I feel fully prepared. In college so far, anatomy is my favorite subject I have ever studied and I found it absolutely fascinating and motivating, as I knew that I was pursuing the right path career wise. I’m excited to continue studying this in the future once I get to medical school and in my career. Although the prospect of being in school for 7 more years is daunting, I genuinely do enjoy learning and the pursuit of knowledge, both within the realm of medicine and outside.

The image on the top right represents my desire to eventually give back and teach. Not only do I love learning, but I also enjoy teaching others and passing along the joy of learning and knowledge. Once I am established in my career as a doctor, I would like to come back and either teach medicine or be adjunct professor at a medical school. Even now, I love to teach and served as a Team Leader for Symposium, leading a class once a week.

Finally, the last box contains my Gallup assessment of strengths, which I feel accurately represents my personality quite well. As a relator, I love to be a people person and am energized by spending time with the people I love. I also prioritize learning and real, tangible work and achievement as a leader and academic. I also function as an arranger in many aspects of my life, frequently emerging as a natural leader in social situations. Additionally, I also value discipline and honoring my commitments, as shown in my explanations of the other images on this board.
