My Career Ready Portfolio

In my “best fit occupations,” I got 35 occupations that appeared in all my five assessments, 10 in four assessments, and 91 on three assessments. The categories of most of my occupations involve education, health science, speech communication, and psychology. Most of the careers involved being a professor, such as Agricultural Science Professor, Biology Professor, Exercise Physiologist, Nursing Professor, Audiologist, Interpreter for the Deaf of Hard of Hearing, Counseling Psychologist, and Psychology Professor. They all have in common working and dealing with people that struggle in certain areas like studies, physical health, language barriers, and mental health.

In my Work and Leisure Interest, my Holland Code was the same: SIC. This type of code reflects on how I am a helper, a thinker, and an organizer: Social, Investigative, Conventional, Sharing, Inquiring, and Correct. The six of these skills show how I enjoy working for people, but I also like performing tasks and attaining goals by myself by learning and researching; I usually do this by being very organized: doing excel sheets, to do lists, statistics, etc. As a Physician, I will be working as the leader of my healthcare team to help our patients. We will all work individually but bring all our parts together to perform the best work possible for the people in need. As a doctor, I would have to research and be up to date with new technology and care for certain conditions and have a meaningful conversation with my patients where they feel understood and heard.

In my opinion, the most important of the five categories are Work Interest, Personality, and Values. When I ran the PDF again, it did not give me new insights. The results were still the same as before where it stated that I would be good mainly at working in the education field.

Focus 2 career and my results from Truecolors, Strengths, and 16-personalities were very similar. I know I am a ENFJ, Blue, and my top 5 strengths are Input, Learner, Achiever, Individualization, and Relator. All of these results show how I am very passionate about my goals, I like helping people, and I enjoy gaining further knowledge about the topics that I am working or interested in. I am also outgoing, good at communicating, and truthful.

One personal insight into this career path assessment is that it made me realize that I am very good at working with people that need help in a certain way. Even though being a Physician might not be in my top list of Careers that would “fit me,” I think the skill of caring and empathizing with people is crucial for the health care field and something that a lot of physicians lack. I want to become a Physician in order to work with people, educate them about their conditions, and support them through their journey of healing.
