My Service Learning Journal

How did I connect with others who serve this cause or population?

Overall my experience at crisis text line has been great and I have been networking with other crisis counselors, and my supervisors. There’s always people online volunteering with us 24 /7 and we also have a program that we use, called the platform which is a little community where all of us communicate with each other. Here we could post LinkedIn accounts, or a little bio about ourselves and meet other counselors from around the world. This is a great way to communicate with each other and even ask for advice on how to handle conversations! We also have the ability to meet other counselors living around us, which is great because we can bond over our region!

I hope to maintain my connections that I’ve made since this is a great networking opportunity in the future. As I learn more about how networking is super important, I’m beginning to prioritize the connections that I’m making more recently even more! Some of the opportunities that I have had so far is we’re fortunately able to attend little workshops to enhance our communication skills with people who text into our platform. This is great for receiving feedback, and creating even more connections with those who attend these workshops. I do plan on continuing my volunteer experience at Crisis Text Line long after this semester is over since I thoroughly enjoy the work that I’m doing!
