My leadership philosophy

Hi my name is Veronica, I am a student at UCF that strives to do more than just attend classes. I may not want to work with the Youth in my future, but I find something so fulfilling by serving the youth, which is why I like to take time to serve in that portion of my community. Something special about my leadership style is that it changes based on where I am and what the situation ins. In my work place I tend to have a Transformative Leadership style. Though, when serving the youth with the YMCA or the U.S. Dream Academy I adopt a more Servant style of leadership because I am more of a help to them in that time, I am not trying to necessarily make them grow as they need a sister and less of a boss. When it comes to my motivation, I have to look to my values: BASIC. Balance, Accountability, Service, Intensity, and Congruence. Balance to take time for myself and to help those around me. Accountability to be sure to stick to my word in serving my community. Service, to give back. Intensity, to give every event my everything. Lastly Congruence, to make sure what I do wont be concerning to those around me with how I will act that day. I expect out of other what I expect out of myself, I expect time to be given to the community around us and to take time to take care of mental and physical self-health. I define success by doing something “you can hang a hat on”. You do not need millions to be successful, but if you truly work hard and put your best effort forward in any way, that is success to me. I have learned a lot from LEAD Scholars, like the importance of deadlines, learning how to not be the leader in a group and that sometimes being a follower is just as important to fostering leadership.
