2024 Leadership Vision Board

This is my vision board of the 2024 year. First, I hope to travel more this year. I am studying abroad in Italy this year, where I will be learning more about the history of anatomy by visiting places like the University of Bologna, well known for its public dissections in antiquity and other famous landmarks like the Colosseum. The scientists that performed these dissections were leaders in the field of medicine and healthcare, and this allowed them to learn things about the human body that would be impossible to see otherwise. My career goals are also seen on my vision board, as you can see my interest in computers and programming, especially in a healthcare setting. I think it is important for people to be able to have access to protected and safe medical information no matter where they are in the world, and my goal is to help spread this information and access, especially in developing countries. This also appeals to my personal leadership style, which is transactional leadership. While I know that I am a leader, I believe that I am only an effective leader when I am able to give those who I am leading the same information I know and show them how to also be leaders in their own way as well. This works hand in hand with transformational leadership, which focuses on fostering meaningful relationships with the rest of the team to help bring change and add more motivation to a common end goal (“What Is Transformational Leadership? Understanding the Impact of Inspirational Guidance,” n.d.).

If I ever do travel the world while working in health informatics, I want to be able to both teach and lead those that I meet, so that they can continue to develop where they live through technological knowledge. I currently volunteer as a patient companion at the AdventHealth hospitals, where I work with child patients and make sure that they are comfortable during their stay at in their rooms, and also act as a leader during arts and crafts activities that are hosted in the playrooms. I have been exposed to really cool medical technology during my time volunteering, which have allowed me to see some flaws and advantages to the softwares used by doctors, nurses, and patients. To improve my leadership style, I also definitely want to work on my teamwork and communication skills this year, because I work best in groups, where ideas are free flowing which allows for creative input and solutions as well.
