FOCUS 2 CAREER: WHERE I AM HEADED?

Where I am headed? My Career Compass Reflection

After completing the Focus 2 Career Assessment, I noticed a recurring theme in the recommended occupations: many of them had managerial components. This observation led me to realize that my true passion lies in collaborating within a team environment and overseeing the work being done. It resonates with me because most of my past roles have involved some form of oversight. Based on these results, I am inclined to seek roles that encompass this aspect. Examples of such roles that were in my “best fit” were: Athletic Business Manager, Compensation Administrator, Financial Aid Director, and Student Affairs Administrator.

I find myself in agreement with the overarching concept of my “best fit” occupation, as it aligns with my enthusiasm for leading teams and striving toward common objectives. A recent discovery for me has been my dislike to feeling stagnant; I seek a job that allows for continuous growth and the development of my skills to new heights. Among the various components, I believe the “values” section holds the utmost significance. Throughout my professional experiences, I consistently assess whether a role aligns with my core values and how it integrates them. Working within teams while upholding my three core values: Respect, Communication, and Empathy, is paramount to me. The assessment hasn’t necessarily introduced me to new values; rather, it reaffirmed the importance of these values in my decision-making process. At the heart of my career choices is the desire to find fulfillment and enjoyment in my work.

Regarding my leisure interests, the assessment yielded the code “CES,” representing Correct (The Organizer), Eager (The Persuader), and Sharing (The Helper). These descriptions aptly reflect my personality and how I engage with work, as well as what I seek in collaborative environments. It showcases my genuine concern for the welfare of individuals within my teams. The assessment accurately pinpointed my aspect of the value the well-being of others, demonstrating my commitment to recognizing individuals as much as their roles within the workplace.

Overall, I found the assessment to be insightful in understanding the underlying dynamics of my work and the people I collaborate with. It provided valuable insights into my preferences and priorities, guiding my career aspirations and interpersonal interactions.
