My Career Ready Portfolio
Where I am headed? My Career Compass Reflection
Completing these career surveys was very fun and made me think a lot about what I want to be. This assessment showed me that I have a passion for family and children. There were also many occupations having to do with psychology and managing. Law had also come up in the occupations. These all show that my goal of practicing family law would be a good fit for my skill asset and personality. There were so many occupations that the assessment showed I could excel at! This gives me so much hope that even though I may feel so much pressure and have doubts that I will not succeed, there is so much that I can explore.
One occupation that I agree with is lawyer. This is something that I’ve wanted to pursue since I was so young. I love researching facts, and arguing different perspectives of a topic. There is so much to discuss in each “problem” and so much to bring to light. I have so much passion for fighting for people and I would be able to do this as a lawyer. I think I would succeed in law school because I love history and I am good at memorizing rules. Specifically, I would want to practice family law. This would deal with divorces and custody battles. This is my dream career and I would love it if it came into fruition.
Another occupation that I agree with is school advisor. I am very organized and have passion for children and teenagers. I would love to help students figure out their futures and where they want to go after highschool also think I would be good at motivating kids who may not have the most confidence when it comes to their future.
There was also a lot of different therapist and psychological careers on the recommendation. This makes so much sense to me since I am a psychology major. I feel so much joy from thinking about how the brain works and why people think the way they think. I would love to be able to practice therapy, however through my personal life I realized that is never something I could fully commit to. I feel emotions so intensely and feel so bad when people are sad or feel upset. I would not be able to separate my work life from my personal life. I have so much passion for the study of psychology, so if I end up in that field, it would have to be as a professor or clinically.
One set of occupations that I do not agree with all the ones in the health field. Health is something I sincerely thought about in highschool, and the body has always intrigued me. Regardless of this, I would not be able to get through the classes you have to take without some serious hurt to my mental health. I do not have a lot of passion for math or science and it would be alot for me to have to study just that. My brain identifies with people, emotions, history, and rules, more than numbers, calculations, or theories. There is so much I could succeed in and be happy pursuing, so there is no reason to pursue something in the health category. The reason I think these occupations popped up is because I have a huge passion for helping those who need someone.
