What can Bolman & Deal's 4 Frames teach us?

My Organizational Analysis

In regards to the 4 frames, I have come to a crossroads. For the Children’s Home Society of Florida, I feel that they fit the Human Resource Frame and the Symbolic Frame. As for the Human Resource side of things, Chs offers careers ranging from working in their offices to hands-on field work partnering with other big organizations. They also have a multitude of ways to give that don’t all include giving money. They have locations all over Florida. They also offer remote volunteering opportunities for those who can’t physically be there. Finally they offer a humongous assortment of benefits such as wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, etc. for those that want to take their volunteering further and work for them. All of those benefits show just how much Chs values its people and their needs, morale, and individuality and motivation just as the frame states and focuses on. Chs also knows success or the reaching of their vision depends on meeting the needs of everyone who works there. I see this as a major strength but it can also be costly mentally trying to keep track of these things especially the number of participants and keep up with generalized benefits that fit a major demographic of people, which could manifest itself as a physically straining problem on those who run and manage things. It’s kind of a bittersweet or paradoxal moment, but with a good head, the body functions well.

On the symbolic frame front, Chs is driven by the need to end foster care by working with children and their families to produce a world where children realize their full potential and cross the bridges Chs creates for them. Just like this frame,Chs focuses on a vision and inspiration. Chs also “helps their teams create meaning from confusion especially during turbulent times” like foster situations, abuse situations, instances where there’s poor mental health or when a family is in poverty. Through that shared mission and vision above, shared values are formed that produce bonds allowing for a common understanding and greater room for celebrating milestones. I also see this as a major strength to Chs because there will always be hard times for someone out there but it makes me question what happens if there was dissonance between the milestones or success rating of Chs and either another organization family they work with, or a decent sized portion of their supporters/ volunteer/ workers? Is there a plan for that? If so, was there a time in history that it happened? Overall, I think exhibiting multiple frames, at least this combo it’s doing Chs a lot more benefit and I hope they continue to grow and prosper in they way they have been.
